Wedding Invitations: Save Your Paper When It Comes To…Paper

We need to get real on wedding invitations.  This was probably one of the most surprising expenses i came across in the planning process.  As i came across very helpful websites like Wedding Paper Divas and Minted i realized that i just simply couldn’t reason spending so much money on something that-let’s be real here- people will end up throwing away anyway. Yes- as a wedding guest many times over i’ve enjoyed opening up a gorgeous envelope filled with bright, beautiful invitations but then–do you know what unfortunately happens to those expensive pieces of paper?!!? They end up in the trash with my used tissues and leftovers i didn’t end up eating.  I know it sounds harsh-but it’s true! My fiance and i didn’t want invites to eat up our budget so we opted for the budget-friendly Vista Print.  I knew they would have some sort of Cyber Monday sale and sure enough they did.  We ordered 100 invitations (response card and info card included) for under $140. They didn’t come with all of the bells, whistles and glitter like most invitations i receive but they were unique to us and they got the message across.  I also purchased envelopes at Staples (with a coupon!)  If i didn’t end up ordering there i’ve been seeing several, “make your own” kits that are so gorgeous!  You can find some really beautiful ones at the trifecta- Michael’s, A.C. Moore and Hobby Lobby.  Wedding Paper Divas is always offering great coupons for discounts as well- so sign up for their email list!
