Since our radio station is firmly planted in Rhode Island (in East Providence, to be exact), we couldn’t help but notice the most popular things searched for about Rhode Island on Google.

As a matter of fact, it looks as though, according to the most searched for questions, most people don’t know much about Rhody.

So please, allow us just a moment to answer the questions.

1. Is Rhode Island a State?

Buckle up. YES, we are actually a state, all by ourselves! Rhode Island. We’re not in New York City. We’re not Long Island, we’re Rhode Island. We’ve been a state since 1790. May 29, 1790 actually. Read all about it on Wikipedia, would you?

2. Is Rhode Island a Good Place to Live?

Quick answer: yep. Aside from the gorgeous beaches, Bellvue Avenue in Newport, all of the incredible food and restaurants…let’s just say GQ named Providence “America’s Coolest City.”

3. Is Rhode Island an Island?

LR

4. Is Rhode Island the smallest state?

You bet – and we’re tiny. Just 1,500 square miles. Compare that to the second smallest state, Delaware – who is 2,500 square miles. We’re almost half the size of the second smallest state!
