"South African doctor invents “anti-rape” female condoms with “teeth”"
Sonnet Ehlers, a doctor in South Africa, has designed, patented, and manufactured an “anti-rape female condom” with the unambiguous brand name Rape-aXe. Women who believe they are at high risk of being raped insert the device into themselves like a tampon, and wear it around indefinitely as a form of protection when anticipating risk. The “teeth” inside cause intense pain and potential injury to a male upon penetration, and basically clamp down, making exit from the device painful. The thing does leave damage.

South Africa has one of the highest rape rates in the world, Human Rights Watch says on its website. A 2009 report by the nation’s Medical Research Council found that 28 percent of men surveyed had raped a woman or girl, with one in 20 saying they had raped in the past year, according to Human Rights Watch.
In most African countries, rape convictions are not common. Affected women don’t get immediate access to medical care, and DNA tests to provide evidence are unaffordable.
“Women and girls who experience these violations are denied justice, factors that contribute to the normalization of rape and violence in South African society,” Human Rights Watch says.
Women take drastic measures to prevent rape in South Africa, Ehlers said, with some wearing extra tight biker shorts and others inserting razor blades wrapped in sponges in their private parts.
Critics have accused her of developing a medieval device to fight rape.
“Yes, my device may be a medieval, but it’s for a medieval deed that has been around for decades,” she said. “I believe something’s got to be done … and this will make some men rethink before they assault a woman.”

"Hollywood-Style Bank Robbery Caught on CCTV"
Using a helicopter, explosives, and mechanical saws, these robbers took a page right out of an action movie when they robbed this Swedish cash depot.
Flying away with over five million dollars, these masked bandits later abandoned the helicopter just outside of Stockholm. Ten suspects have been placed under arrest; two are at large. The stolen cash was originally destined for ATM machines in Sweden.
The coordinated robbery even included a bomb threat and a fake bomb planted at the Swedish police helicopter hangar, which prohibited police from chasing the robbers’ helicopter. All ten of the captured men have pleaded innocent. Twenty-one employees were present at the cash depot during the robbery; none were harmed.

Oh Lebron! The recent move by the Miami Heat confirms that we will someday soon have that good ole basketball back with all due respect to the Lakers-Celtics 7 game series. This move reminds me of the days when it was Johnson, Worthy, and Jabbar vs. Bird, Parrish, and McHale, or Thomas, Dumars, and Lambeer. Well now we have Bryant, Gasol, Bynum, and Pierce, Allen, Garnett, and ultimately, Wade, bosh, and James! Do expect this to become “protocol” to win an NBA title. As for many more teams have and will be stacking their rosters with stars.
I believe that this Miami team will be explosive as intended. Anything less than an NBA championship title will be uncivilized. 72-10 anybody?. Well with Wade at the 1 and Lebron at the 2 or vice versa even, or Mario Chalmers at the 1, Wade at the 2, and Bron at the 3… Wow! Not to mention that I didn’t mention Bosh, who can live at the 4 or 5. Zone defense will be a must against this team. That’s 3 players on the court that commands a double team. Just imagine those guys on a fast break, the defender back peadaling… Wade can take it to the hole or throw it up and you know Bron. Bron is going to get it… or dish it back to a trailing Chris Bosh who will definitely finish at the rim… again, wow! Or how about Wade at the 3-point line, Bosh setting the pick, and Lebron in the passing lane. And if you collapse on them, don’t forget that Chalmers can knock down the shot. I bet that they lead the league in alley-oops. And they’re all young! Scary! Hey, what if Pat Riley returns to the sidelines and it ends up being the Lakers vs. Heat in the finals? Riley vs. Jackson! Epic! Gasol on Bosh, Ron-Ron on Bron-Bron, and Kobe on Wade… wow!
Also, beware of the Bulls. Boozer will fit in well because they’re similar to Utah in many ways. A nice guard surrounded by the shooters. With the addiction of Korrer and Rose should be able to shine brighter. The Bulls led the league in the rebounds last season and I’m sure they will again with Boozer and Noah.

"BP has stopped the oil spill. FINALLY."
But the damage has been done. BP’s oil pipe has been leaking into the Gulf of Mexico for 85 days straight. EIGHTY-FIVE days, and 1.5 million gallons of oil was leaking a DAY.
They finally were able to throw a containment cap on that pipe and stop the leak, today.

The oil has stopped but the damage has been done, for 2 ½ months the Gulf has been polluted with crude oil but today it seems that The Gulf oil spill has momentarily been stopped by the latest containment cap.
The containment cap is in place and the oil has stopped. The government estimated that 1.5 million gallons to 2.5 million gallons of oil a day are spewing from the well, with the new cap and the new containment vessel, the system will be capable of capturing 2.5 million gallons to 3.4 million gallons – essentially all the leaking oil.
Kent Wells, a BP PLC vice president, said at a news briefing that oil stopped flowing into the water at 2:25 p.m. CDT after engineers gradually dialed down the amount of crude escaping through the last of three valves in the 75-ton cap.
“I am very pleased that there’s no oil going into the Gulf of Mexico. In fact, I’m really excited there’s no oil going into the Gulf of Mexico,” Wells said.
The stoppage came 85 days, 16 hours and 25 minutes after the first report April 20 of an explosion on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig that killed 11 workers and triggered the spill.

Hello world… I’m good. Counting the days and still smiling. Most of those smiles come from hearing my kids’ voices over the phone. The others come from reading fan mail. Let me just say that I have the best fans in the world! The devotion, dedication, support, love, and most of all, prayers are simply the best. I never imagined that I could have such an impact on people’s lives. Because of this, I vow to be a bit more careful of what I say.
So I’ve been writing and let me be the first to tell you that the lyrics that I’m writing are… well there’s no word that I can think of that properly defines them. Amazing would be too typical and perfect would be unfair. I listen to the radio sometimes, emphasis on sometimes, and I hear the new music. I like some. I applaud my Young Money family for what they’re doing. As I’m not surprised. This is what we’re supposed to do. Congrats to Drake and Nicki for all their recent success. Those 2 are going to have me retiring early. I love my team. Much love to Tez and Mack. I know that people are inquisitive of what I do all day, so here goes. I wake up around 11AM. Have some coffee. And they said it wouldn’t last! Uh, they were right.
But seeing as how there’s no time like the present to confirm your separation (particularly when the present also happens to coincide with the surfacing of risqué photos of you and your new hot piece), The-Dream has done just that, revealing that he and baby mama Christina Milian have separated after three long months of marriage.
“Terius ‘The Dream’ Nash is saddened to announce that his marriage to Christina Milian was unsuccessful,” the super producer’s rep told E! News.
“The couple reached this decision in late 2009, but decided to keep the news private in efforts to protect their baby daughter, Violet. They ask for consideration and respect for their family moving forward.”
The rep didn’t confirm an exact split, but even with the benefit of the doubt, the marriage wouldn’t have lasted longer than a whopping 90 days. The duo tied the knot in Las Vegas on Sept. 4 of last year.
The quickie ceremony came a couple months after the couple went public with their not-so-secret engagement and just one month after they confirmed they were expecting their first child.
Daughter Violet was born on Feb. 26 of this year. The couple failed to release the standard joint statement gushing over their newborn, though the fact that they were no longer together at the time explains that away.
In any case, The-Dream’s confirmation of a split waited until the last possible reputation-saving minute, as it comes on the same day that photos emerged of the hip-hop star gallivanting and otherwise getting straddled by an unidentified woman. But certainly not Christina.

The rap superstar – who is one of the co-founders of label Roc-A-Fella Records – heard the band’s track ‘The Club Is Alive’ while hosting a World Cup party backstage at Dublin’s Oxegen festival, with his crew at the weekend and was so impressed he has vowed to make the group a success in America.
An insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “He was heard telling pals how much he digs JLS’ sound and how it reminded him of a modern day Boys II Men and Jodeci. JLS’ song was playing backstage a lot over the weekend and he got excited about them.
“He knows good talent when he hears it, and is not beating around the bush on getting things kick-started with them Stateside.”
A source revealed to the Daily Star newspaper: “These guys are chatting to David Blaine to see if he can work with them on coming up with some ideas for the production of their arena tour. They want to incorporate some illusions into their show and are keen for him to come up with the creative work on it as they’re huge fans of his.

The debate is finally over as Michael Jordan speaks recently at a camp as a guest speaker and lets his views out. So over the years we have had great debate of the two great NBA Superstars, and who was actually the better of the two. Kobe Bryant are from different eras and growing up differently made their drive different. Lebron James is an 80s baby and Kobe Bryant is from the 70s, so there is a big culture difference that could make values growing up much different.
Kobe Bryant has 5 rings, and 3 of those rings he had by the time he was 24 which is quite impressive. Lebron James has just changed the face of the NBA and he is definitely in it to win it. You can’t blame Lebron for making his life easier but as we remember in 2006 when Kobe was holding out on the Lakers but stayed and now took his team to the NBA Finals and won the past two years. As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.
This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.
Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.
The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.
There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.
You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.
You have given so much and deserve so much more.
In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown “chosen one” sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And “who” we would want them to grow-up to become.
But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called “curse” on Cleveland, Ohio.
The self-declared former “King” will be taking the “curse” with him down south. And until he does “right” by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

TMZ has learned … LeBron James and his mother Gloria James are being sued for millions by a man who claims he tried to prove he’s the NBA star’s biological father — but LeBron and his mom tampered with the evidence in a diabolical cover-up. The lawsuit is explosive — in it, 55-year-old Leicester Bryce Stovell claims he met Gloria in a D.C. area bar in 1984 … and had unprotected sex with her on the night they met. He later found out she was 15-years-old at the time … he was 29.According to the docs — filed recently in federal court — Gloria has spent the rest of her life shielding LeBron from the truth.
But the man making the claim isn’t some schmuck — dude is a Princeton graduate … who earned a law degree from theUniversity of Chicago … and then became a Senior Legal Advisor for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. In his suit, Stovell claims he has a very clear recollection of the night he had “consensual sexual relations” with Gloria — in fact, he even remembers apologizing for his sub-par performance.
Leicester claims Gloria went back to her hometown in Ohio after they hooked up — but returned several months later to inform him she was pregnant with a boy named LeBron … but she never specifically identified the father. Leicester — a self-proclaimed high school star athlete — says he remembers telling Gloria, “Well, if he’s mine, make sure he plays basketball.” He claims that was the last time he saw Gloria for more than 20 years. According to the docs, Leicester claims he reconnected with Gloria over the phone in 2007 — when he began to think he could be LeBron’s father … partly because they look almost identical. Leicester also notes that when he saw LeBron at an NBA game he was, “struck by our similarity in appearance … James and I are nearly if not identical height and pigmentation and have very similar athletic body types.” Leicester claims during the 2007 phone call — Gloria denied ever meeting him — threatened to have him physically harmed — and told him, “LeBron’s money is for his children.”
A few days after the phone call, Leicester claims LeBron — through his lawyer — agreed to take a DNA paternity test.

"World’s largest oil skimmer ship is in the Gulf waiting for someone to give the go-ahead."
The world’s biggest oil skimmer is now in the Gulf, and is preparing to take part in the cleanup operations. But it’s kind of hard to conceptualize what the biggest oil skimmer in the world, which is 400 yards long (a quarter of a mile) and 100 yards wide, actually looks like. Unless you’re standing on it. Or at least watching a video of some reporter standing on it. And so:
This skimmer, a retro-fitted cargo ship, can reportedly gather up to 400,000 barrels of oil a day. As the Huffpo Green notes, that’s enough to “effectively [accomplish] in two weeks what 500 skimming boats have done in two months.”
The ship is aptly named “A Whale” (why not “The Whale” or just “Whale” we’ll never know) and is currently awaiting approval to commence cleanup operations from the Coast Guard. There are evidently still environmental concerns that need to be cleared before the gargantuan vessel can start making all the other skimmers on the Gulf look bad.
Questions will no doubt linger as to why such a vessel wasn’t put into service earlier, before miles of marshland were soaked with oil and the spill grew to a size spanning hundreds of miles. But for now, just look at that thing. It’s big.

"Today BP hits 140 million gallons of spilled oil—the largest in Gulf history."
Yes, tomorrow, by the high-end federal estimates of the rate by which oil is spewing from the Deepwater Horizon source, 140 million gallons will have entered the Gulf of Mexico. It could be even more than that, as many scientists say BP and the feds continue to lowball the flow rate estimates. But regardless, that number makes it enough to eclipse the Ixtoc spill, and places it well on its way towards being the biggest in history.
The current benchmark for record-setting oil spills is the 1991 Persian Gulf incident where Iraqi forces intentionally dumped a total of 460 million gallons out of its reserves. The BP Gulf spill is a third of the way there, and still spilling.
This number is important for reasons beyond ooh and ah media narratives as well — the gallons of oil that BP is responsible for spilling will determine the amount it will be fine, and provides crucial information for restoration efforts. The AP reports:
The growing total is crucial to track, in part because Great Britain-based BP PLC is likely to be fined per gallon spilled, said Larry McKinney, director of Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi’s Gulf of Mexico research institute.

"Eminem’s album sells almost double more than Drake’s"
And we thought we were impressed by Drake selling 462,989 albums in his first week – psh! You thought! Eminem just came skipping along selling 741,000 copies of his Recovery album in it’s first week.
The last album to sell close to that was AC/DC back in October 2008, selling 784,000 copies in one week. Wow, definitely didn’t see that coming.

Verizon iPhone is coming, January 2011 is the Verizon Wireless iPhone Release Date. That’s only if the two insiders’ that talked to a Bloomberg reporter are telling the truth. There have been MANY Verizon iPhone rumors on the web, it’s seriously getting boring now seeing sites post rumors on Verizon iPhone.
Here is the history so far. A Verizon President told eWeek that there would be a Verizon iPhone on the Verizon Wireless network, but before that there was a Verizon employee that told Beet.tv that Verizon wouldn’t be getting the iPhone. We are seeing mixed reports on the web about Verizon iPhone.
It would really be a dream come true if the Verizon iPhone Release Date is January 2011, but please take ANY article or site talking about a Verizon iPhone with a grain of salt. Apple is good at keeping their new products hidden from public until they’re ready for launch, so we will just have to wait and see if there will be a Verizon iPhone. (Via SuperGeekyNews)

It all started last Wednesday when Andre Harrell let off a couple of unassuming tweets that Kanye’s Good Ass Job and CuDi’s Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager were both on course for September 14th releases. Then, G.O.O.D music affiliates Big Sean & Tony Williams tweeted that their respective albums, Finally Famous and King Or The Fool , would be coming out the same day.

"LeBron James checking out NYC apartments… Knicks or Nets?"
LeBron James, Ohio native and potential cash cow for NYC, apparently visited a nearly $13 million apartment in the Big Apple this past weekend. Prudential Douglas Elliman vice chairman Dolly Lenz told FOX Business’s Liz Claman, “He was spotted the day before yesterday at a Greenwich Village condo. Looking, and trying it out -making sure the ceilings were high enough. It was actually quite interesting. The one he was looking at is $12,950,000-esque.”
This would be the second apartment the “King” allegedly perused (the first may have been this one in Columbus Circle, though it’s unclear whether it’s just wishful thinking). But does this mean he wants to play for the Knicks? Well, according to the Post’s Marc Berman, the Knicks are trailing in the LeBron sweepstakes—they are even behind the Nets!
Berman writes, “One person with ties to James told The Post he feels ‘The King’ will bolt Cleveland — but that the Nets have a better shot than the Knicks in the six-team LeBron race. James will keep an open mind as he enters Thursday’s Akron-area meetings, with the Bulls and Miami emerging as frontrunners. ‘If it wasn’t for Newark for two years, they [the Nets] would probably be the winner,’ the individual said. ‘But they probably have surpassed the Knicks. I think the Knicks hurt themselves with the draft.’”
James will meet with the Nets at 10 a.m. on Thursday, while the Knicks are second with a 1 p.m. appointment; the meetings will be in Akron, Ohio.

"Swizzy owes 2.2 MIL to the IRS… Prenup, Alicia Keys, Prenup"
According to the Detroit News, Swizz Beatz (who’s known by the government as Kasseem Dean and is currently engaged to be wed to Alicia Keys — who is also pregnant with his child) owes $2.2 million in unpaid taxes and as recently as June 3, the IRS filed a $652,727 against him for unpaid 2008 taxes. This is in addition to the $162,300 tax warrant the agency filed against him and Mashonda on Feb. 4, 2009 and the $556,986 lien filed on Aug. 18, 2008 for unpaid 2007 taxes.

"Kanye’s 6-figure jewelry price tag from the BET Awards"
See that necklace and ring that Kanye is rocking above? Well, those two pieces of jewelry are enough for a down-payment on a house. He wore it during his performance at the 2010 BET Awards a couple days ago, according to Jacob & Co., that price tag was looking like $300,000.
